5 tips for achieving beautiful skin in your 30s

5 tips for achieving beautiful skin in your 30s

One’s 30s can be a tricky time for maintaining good skin. Perhaps you didn’t have much of a skincare regime during your 20s, or you have noticed that your skin is beginning to change. These changes may not be drastic, but you may feel a difference in texture and tone. Your skin may begin to feel drier, with crows’ feet or subtle wrinkles forming around the mouth or forehead. So, what are the main tips for maintaining and improving skin health during your 30s?

1. Pay more attention to the ingredients in your skincare products

While in your 20s a nice moisturiser that will not break the bank may have been all you needed, your 30s is definitely the time to begin investing in quality ingredients with proven anti-ageing benefits to the skin. You may, for instance, consider investing in a retinol product, or, if you prefer all things natural, a high potency organic facial oil.

2. Invest in regular facials and/or treatments

A good regular facial is great for so much more than unwinding: having your skin seen to by a professional aesthetician can improve skin clarity and firmness, and even reduce wrinkles! But be sure to choose carefully – anyone entrusted with your face should be a fully trained and licensed professional.

3. Ditch the foaming cleanser

Many of us become attached to foaming cleaners during our 20s, mistaking the tightening sensation they leave on the skin for cleanliness. But foaming agents are not beneficial to the skin; in fact, they interfere with its natural barrier. Creams, balms, and oil-based cleansers respect your skin and do not leave it dry.

4. Look for a dedicated eye and neck cream

Eye creams are usually unnecessary before you turn 30, but they can make a big difference during this crucial decade. As we age, the already delicate skin around our eyes becomes even thinner. A dedicated eye cream will help firm and protect this area. The same goes for your neck, where the skin is considerably thinner than on your face. Even if you do not feel like buying an extra product, always remember to take all serums and creams down to your décolleté.

5. Stay out of the sun!

Want to know how celebrities maintain their youthful looks? The answer we hear again and again is staying away from harmful UV rays and using a moisturiser with a high SPF. And if you are out in the lunchtime sun, always remember your sunscreen.
