5 Waxing myths you need to know
Removing unwanted hair is part of every woman's life. Shaving, hair removal creams and waxing are all great options, but for many women there is still lots of confusion and misinformation when it comes to waxing their unwanted hair. We believe that every woman should know all the facts about waxing, so below we debunk 5 common myths about waxing.
1. Waxing will hurt you
This is what many women fear and why they choose not to wax. The truth is that when waxing is done correctly and by a professional, then it should not be painful. It very much depends upon the method used and the skill of the beautician.
2. Waxing requires long hair
This myth is an incredibly old one. You really don't need long hairs to use a waxing treatment. In fact, the hair only needs to be the size of a grain of rice, so around a quarter of an inch. Those leg hairs don't have to be an inch long before you hit the beauty salon.
3. It will stop those ingrowing hairs
Waxing can lessen your chances of having ingrown hairs, but it won't necessarily stop them. Exfoliating those sensitive areas and avoiding shaving after waxing can help to reduce them.
4.Your skin will wrinkle
Waxing does not cause your skin to wrinkle. The good news is that it does exactly the opposite, as it helps to tighten the skin. Another huge bonus is that the wax also acts as an exfoliator, removing dead skin and giving a smoother appearance.
5. Your hair will grow back thicker
Who knows how this myth first started, but it's actually untrue. The thickness of your hair is determined by genetics, not your choice of hair removal. Regular waxing (or shaving or creams) will actually soften your hairs and make them finer.
